Bandai Namco officially confirmed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will launch on August 28 for Nintendo Switch 2. The complete version bundles the 2022 base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and a series of new contents, such as two new starting classes, exclusive armors for the character, and customization options for Torrent, the spectral steed. The suggested price is US$ 79.99 for the physical edition, which comes in Game-Key Card format and requires a full game download. According to Bandai Namco, this is the first time the FromSoftware RPG reaches a Nintendo console. The announcement was made through the publisher's European portal and the official website.

In addition to the complete game, the Tarnished Edition includes the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which takes players to the Realm of Shadow to explore Miquella's story. The bundle also features two new starting classes, which promise to diversify builds from the beginning of the journey, along with armor sets never seen before and cosmetic skins for Torrent. The news was originally revealed at the April 2025 Nintendo Direct, but the launch was delayed to allow performance adjustments on the hybrid hardware. Now, with the date set, fans will finally be able to play Elden Ring on Switch 2, both in portable and docked modes.

Those who already own Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or PC via Steam will not need to buy the complete edition. Bandai Namco will release the new content as a separate bundle called Tarnished Pack on the same day, August 28. The price varies by region — in Japan, the bundle costs 550 yen, about US$ 4, and in the United States the expected value is US$ 4.99. This pack includes the two new classes, the armors, and the Torrent customization options, ensuring that veterans also gain access to the novelties without paying twice for the base game.

The launch on Switch 2 marks an important milestone for the franchise, which has already sold more than 30 million copies worldwide since February 2022. The arrival on Nintendo's console completes the list of available platforms for the game, now including all current systems. However, the game's performance on Switch 2 remains unknown — previous reports indicated technical issues during development, and Bandai Namco did not release detailed notes on resolution or frame rate. The expectation is that the final version delivers a stable experience, taking advantage of the new console's more powerful hardware.

With the Tarnished Edition and the Tarnished Pack, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco show that they continue investing in Elden Ring even years after the original launch. Prolonged support is rare in the industry, and the arrival on Switch 2 should attract both new players and veterans who want to revisit the Lands Between with new features. Meanwhile, fans are already speculating about the future of the series, with director Hidetaka Miyazaki stating that he does not rule out a sequel, but that there are no concrete plans at the moment. For now, the priority is to ensure that the experience on Switch 2 lives up to the game's legacy.
