The Witcher 3 Remastered Shows Redesigned Meditation in New Teaser

CD Projekt Red released a new gameplay teaser for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on August 31, 2026, focusing on the completely redesigned meditation system. The video, which circulated on the ixbt.games site, also shows official cheats and an expanded photo mode. Meditation now works immersively, with Geralt interacting with the environment while time passes. This changes the dynamics of battle preparation, as the player must choose better where and when to rest. The remaster was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live and arrives on September 29, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Those who already own the original game will receive the update for free, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. On PC, the game will feature path tracing, DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS 2.0, in addition to Ray Reconstruction. On console, the focus is on performance and visual quality improvements, with renewed textures and lighting. CDPR also confirmed Battle.net support, expanding the reach of the remastered version.

In addition to meditation, the teaser shows other gameplay novelties. Combat has been refined, with new finishers and visual effects on Geralt's signs. The skill tree has been redesigned, offering more build options. The transmogrification system allows changing equipment appearance without losing stats. Monster behavior has also been improved, making encounters more unpredictable. Roach the horse's handling has been revised, with smoother and more responsive movement. All of this comes with an expanded photo mode, which now allows more camera control and filters.

According to executive producer Jakub Kutrzuba, the idea was to imagine what The Witcher 3 would be like if it were released in 2026. The result is a version that maintains the original essence but modernizes systems that aged poorly. The community reacted well, especially because the upgrade is free. On Steam, the Complete Edition had its price adjusted, but those who already had the game pay nothing extra. CDPR also took the opportunity to show the first teaser for the Songs of the Past expansion, scheduled for 2027, which will take Geralt to the new region of Letten. The remaster serves as a gateway to this new adventure.
